Striker Igor Thiago has ‘achieved little’ since his move to Brentford was announced earlier this year, with a lack of form and injuries following the big deal so far.

That’s according to Voetbal Nieuws, who cover him and teammate Antonio Nusa today, another man not particularly aided by the Bees.

The newspaper explains that Brugge need to eliminate Molde in the Conference league on Thursday otherwise ‘the crisis’ will return, and questions will start to be asked.

The Brugge manager is hoping to have some of his key players back for that game, with Thiago chief among them.

He’s been shining for the Belgian side all season, scoring goals for fun in his first year at the club, so much so that Brentford moved to secure his signing earlier this year in a €33m deal.

He’ll be joining the Bees in the summer, but it seems since that announcement was made, things have taken a drastic downturn for him.

Voetbal Niuews say he’s ‘achieved little since the deal was done’, playing poorly immediately after it was announced then getting injured to compound things. The implication is that the move to Brentford has had a negative effect on an otherwise superb campaign.

The same may be said for Nusa, although he is categorically not on his way to join the Bees. That looked to be the case in January before the deal was eventually scrapped because of issues brought up in various medicals.

He’s been in and out of Brugge’s team since and has currently been missing for weeks, adding to the frustration and an altogether ‘very mediocre season’ for him.

He was certainly distracted by the Brentford chaos in January and hasn’t bounced back, while the feeling is Thiago has been on a downward spiral since Brentford appeared as well.

That’s leading to frustration at Club Brugge, where they’ll perhaps be hoping the Bees don’t show up again any time soon given what’s happened every time they have this year.
