Despite never making an appearance for Leeds United, Elia Caprile is one of the most talked about former Elland Road players these days thanks to his performances in Italy.
Loaned to Pro Patria last season, the young goalkeeper impressed and caught the eye of Bari, who bought him for a pittance in the summer.
However, Leeds kept around 50% of a future sale, clearly believing in the player’s potential, but knowing he wouldn’t displace Illan Meslier anytime soon.
He’s been a regular starter with Bari this season, who are currently exceeding expectations, as they are joint-top of Serie B, with 18 points taken from their first eight games.
They remain the only team unbeaten in the league, which led Corriere dello Sport to sit down with the goalkeeper for an interview on Friday.
On top of discussing the current season, the Italian newspaper were also interested in learning what the 21-year-old had kept from his stay at Leeds.
He said: “I was lucky enough to be able to discover a different school of goalkeepers, a different football, more physical with less tactics and more speed.
“On a human level, I lived in quarantine during Covid in England for five months by myself, and this gave me the awareness of being able to manage any difficult moment in the future.”
Since leaving Leeds, he has made 10 appearances for Bari, conceding 10 goals and keeping three clean sheets.
He was bought by the Elland Road side from Chievo’s U19s in January 2020, before being sent on loan to Pro Patria last season, where he played 39 times and conceded 46 goals.
