It’s well known Premier League clubs pay far higher wages than those in other leagues, especially outside of the biggest clubs, and it’s increasingly becoming apparent Championship clubs can also offer attractive wages to players from top flights elsewhere.
Take Bologna as an example. Corriere di Bologna today published a list of the squad’s contracts and there’s only one player over €1m, Mattia Destro, albeit with that figure likely being after tax.
Filip Helander, the Swedish central defender, is said to be on €250k a year, and that’s where Aston Villa and Leeds United come in.
There’s interest from the Championship in the player, report Corriere di Bologna, ‘particularly from Leeds United and Aston Villa’.
Both clubs would have no problem beating those wages, should they so wish, and Aston Villa and Leeds have been linked with Bologna defender a couple of times over the past few months.
