AC Milan are once more on the verge of returning to greatness. The club’s fans have been fed that line for several years, but with new ownership, and serious investment in the team hoped for, there’s a little more reason to feel optimistic right now.
Of course, that optimism could eventually be crushed by cold, hard reality, but for now there’s a light at the end of the tunnel. Alvaro Morata is the latest big name player to be strongly linked with a move to Milan, given his desire to be a star of a team.
Spanish newspaper Marca say Morata has offers from the Premier League, with Chelsea and Manchester United once again named as the clubs who want to sign him. Chelsea links are far stronger, given Morata has confirmed offers from Antonio Conte’s side, and Marca again throw Manchester United in, as is becoming something of a habit.
Real Madrid are looking for €70-75m, say Marca, which shouldn’t be a problem for either Chelsea or Manchester United should they really want the player. Milan are willing to pay €60m, a huge fee for them, but not enough for Madrid right now.
Milan’s 6th place Serie A finish isn’t very exciting, but Morata loves Italy as a country, and his girlfriend, soon to be wife, is Italian. That, and the willingness to make him their star player, is Milan’s pulling point.
Chelsea and Manchester United may be being used for window dressing right now.
