Fanatik have reported Besiktas are chasing Manchester United captain Wayne Rooney. The England international could leave the Premier League club this summer after seeing his chances restricted during the second half of the season.

It’s been claimed Besiktas president Fikret Orman spoke to his close friends and said to them: “If we win the title again, I’ll sign a star player which will shock the entire country. I’ll sign a player that nobody predicts will play in Turkey.”

Fanatik say that player could be Manchester United’s Wayne Rooney. The former England captain’s future under Jose Mourinho is uncertain and Besiktas are hoping to take advantage.

Manchester United are reportedly willing to spend big again to mount a title challenge next reason, and for that reason they may allow Rooney to join Besiktas. Fanatik have reported Besiktas’ plan is to loan Rooney for one season and cover most of the 31-year old’s wages.

It’s would be a surprise if Rooney considered such a move, probably preferring other options available to him and his family.
