Bayer Leverkusen star Moussa Diaby has admitted he is thinking about his future, amid reports of interest from Newcastle United.

Diaby has been in fine form for the German side this season, with 12 goals and seven assists in 25 games in the Bundesliga so far.

That’s more than he’s managed in his previous two campaign since joining in 2019/20, with him already bettering his previous best tally of four goals and 12 assists.

They are the kind of numbers that have naturally earned him plenty of attention, with the 22-year-old primed for interest in his signature this summer.

Newcastle are one of the clubs reportedly interested, with it claimed back in January that they were looking at a deal amid their efforts to rebuild in the winter window.

That led reports Bayer Leverkusen had upped their asking price to €100m, something that seemingly hasn’t put Newcastle off as a report earlier this month insisted they were still keen.

They’ve now been handed a boost if they do move, though, with the player admitting he is looking at his future.

“I’m obviously thinking about it but not too much yet. I’m still focused on the end of the season. For the moment, it’s my only concern,” Le Parisien report him saying.

“I want to play all the top-level matches, and the Champions League is one of them. The goal is to qualify for the Champions League with Bayer.

“I love playing in games under pressure. It’s in these moments that you see if a player is physically and mentally present.

“It’s always nice to see such figures (the €100m). After that, it’s not my job to set the figures; my objective is to give everything on the pitch, help the team and continue to play good games.”
