A potential exit from Aston Villa in the summer has become a bit more realistic for Unai Emery as Bayern Munich seek a new manager.

BILD cover the situation at the German club today after Bayer Leverkusen manager Xabi Alonso revealed yesterday that he would be remaining at his club.

He had been among the favourites to replace Thomas Tuchel and his refusal to move to Bayern, or indeed Liverpool, has left the Bavarians now scouring the market for alternatives.

BILD cover that now and the question of ‘what now?’ being asked by the club, who appear to have no idea in what direction they want to go.

The dream candidate in Alonso has now been taken off the table and director of football Max Eberl is instead looking at other options.

Aston Villa manager Unai Emery is one of them, having won the Europa League with Sevilla four times and again with Villarreal and turned Villa into Champions League candidates in the Premier League too.

That’s not gone unnoticed in Bavaria, and he is on the list of options. Indeed, it’s stated he is ahead of Brighton manager Roberto De Zerbi.

It’s not the first time the Spaniard has been linked with the job, but this suggests that interest may be a little more serious than before.

Whether they move for him remains to be seen, with Bayern seemingly unsure what they want to do, but Bild very much think he’s a serious option.
