Millwall midfielder Zian Flemming has revealed he also had an offer to join Nottingham Forest this summer.

The Dutchman joined the Championship club from Fortuna Sittard in the Eredivisie in a €2.5m deal in July, having impressed with the Dutch side during a two-year spell.

He’s been an instant hit with the Lions, establishing himself as a key player in the team over the last five games after starting the campaign as a substitute.

He’s quickly become a fan favourite and well worth the money Millwall paid to sign him, which in itself was a major sign of trust given their consistently low spending in the transfer market over the last few years.

It seems things could have been very different, though, with the player now revealing he was on Nottingham Forest’s list of targets.

They had one of the busiest summers in living memory, with over twenty new arrivals at the club and a summer spend that was among the highest in the whole of Europe.

Players arrived from all corners of the world to bolster Nottingham Forest’s squad and it appears the new Millwall man could have been among them.

“I was really ready for it, both athletically and mentally,” he told Voetbal Primeur.

“It didn’t necessarily have to be England, there were several clubs interested. But a lot of English clubs applied and that is a sign though that my game fits well here and I am in demand.

“Nottingham Forest made an offer, but Huddersfield Town were also concrete in the winter, along with Millwall. And I could also go to Italy.”
