Chelsea winger Hakim Ziyech may have been often linked to Ajax this summer, but it seems there are simply no chances he’ll get back to the Amsterdam club.

As club manager Maurice Steijn today spoke to the local media, he dismissed the recent rumours. In quotes brought by Voetbal Nieuws, he simply claimed the player is not an option.

“Let’s start by saying that I think Hakim is an excellent player and that would definitely be an added value, but we are already quite occupied in the positions for which he is eligible.”

“If something were to happen with that, he could still be an option. But I think we can keep it together and that’s why it’s not an option now.”

Ziyech only made 24 appearances for Chelsea last season, and it’s actually unlikely he’ll get many chances to play under Mauricio Pochettino as well.

The winger still has two years left in his contract with the Blues, and his market value continues to drop, with Transfermarkt currently having it at €16m.

The 30-year-old was recently linked to moves to Turkey and Saudi Arabia, with medical issues stopping his exit to the Middle East.

Recent reports claimed the winger demands a salary worth €4.5m a year, and that’s why it should be difficult to find a club who pays him that, unless Chelsea choose to loan him out while they continue to afford at least part of his wages.
