With a need to bolster both defence and midfield in the summer, Liverpool being linked with a player who can play in both is predictable.

Not only that, but with Giorgio Scalvini being one of the hottest prospect on the market these days, he also makes a lot of sense for the Reds’ long-term planning.

The Atalanta defender was directly asked about Liverpool’s interest in him by TuttoMercatoWeb on Tuesday, after a number of rumours about his future started to circulate this season.

Jürgen Klopp’s side have been linked more than once, with the latest stating there was a fear that the Premier League club could beat everyone to his signing, as they didn’t face certain financial struggles their Italian counterparts might have issues overcoming.

Scalvini was first asked whether he felt any pressure from the upcoming transfer market, which he outright dismisses, making it clear he could ‘isolate’ himself from it all, and only focus on what happens on the pitch.

That’s when TuttoMercatoWeb point out that people are talking about clubs such as Bayern Munich and Liverpool, to which he replied: “It may be nice, but I read in passing and that’s it. I’m concentrated here, at Atalanta. None of us can know what the future holds for me, I just have to think about doing well at Atalanta.”
