Arsenal, as well as other suitors, have been told straight by Real Sociedad that they will need to pay €60m for Martin Zubimendi this summer.

That’s according to Estadio Deportivo, who say the Basque club have made it clear ‘there is no negotiation’ and his release clause will have to be met.

Numerous reports over the last few months have indicated that Arsenal are keen on Zubimendi as they plan to add to their squad again in the summer transfer window.

He’s been impressing for Real Sociedad for the last 18 months or more and has earned himself a growing reputation in Europe as a result, with Arsenal and several others keen.

Estadio back this up, saying that Arsenal are still ‘very interested’ in the player and recent reports in England indicating that Mikel Arteta has great support above him in regard to making a move.

The newspaper says that the Arsenal boss ‘knows perfectly’ how things work at Real Sociedad, having once played there himself, and how good their youth sector is as well.

Likewise, he knows that they will need to make an important offer to get the player out of the club, and Real Sociedad have made their stance clear anyway.

As far as they’re concerned ‘there is no negotiation’ that could make them consider selling one of their star men and so anybody who wants him will simply have to match his €60m clause.

Whether Arsenal are willing to go that far, particularly with a need to spend elsewhere too, remains to be seen.
