Aston Villa star Emi Martinez should look to move on from the club this summer, just to avoid the bad weather in Birmingham.

That’s at least according to his father, who says the goalkeeper has clubs who would happily take him should he wish to depart Villa Park.

Martinez has established himself as one of the best goalkeepers in world football since joining Aston Villa from Arsenal in September 2020.

He had spent a very frustrated decade with the Gunners before that, never establishing himself and enduring numerous unsuccessful loan spells away before a brief stint in the first team, thanks to an injury to Bernd Leno, catapulted him into the limelight.

He hasn’t looked back since that point, establishing himself as the star at Aston Villa and shining on the international stage, playing a key role as Argentina have won the Copa America and the World Cup in recent years.

Aston Villa are more than aware of the player they have and tied him to a deal until 2027 back in January 2022, but that doesn’t mean his father won’t advocate for a transfer elsewhere for the 31-year-old.

“Because I love him, I would like him to go to a city with summer,” he told TNT.

“At Aston Villa he is always in winter, and when he has holidays in May he comes to Mar del Plata. He has enough choice of clubs to go wherever he wants to go.

“They are not going to give him away and it all depends on the family.”
