Earlier today we covered claims from Spanish newspaper Marca that Newcastle United are interested in Gareth Bale.

They carried claims from the English media, and then added their own information, which was there is indeed interest but nothing has happened on the potential transfer yet.

Now another Spanish newspaper has joined the party.

On Monday afternoon, Sport report that Newcastle are set to ‘tempt’ Bale to join them this summer. The player would have one condition, and that’s for his €25m a year salary to continue at the same level.

Bale is on Newcastle’s ‘list of priorities’ and any move would be funded by the club’s prospective new owners.

Sport don’t share any information on what Real Madrid would want from the deal, although it now sounds like they’d just be happy to get Bale’s wages off their accounts. Zinedine Zidane clearly isn’t a fan, and as long as the manager stays it’s hard to see a Madrid future for the Welshman.

There’s the possibility of Newcastle just paying a token fee, giving Bale a big signing-on bonus, and then more realistic wages.
