Despite their attempts to sign Sven Botman from Lille, Newcastle United appear to be losing out to Milan for the Dutchman’s transfer.

He isn’t the only player the two clubs are looking at in the north of France, though, with Renato Sanches also a target for the pair.

This time, however, Newcastle might have the advantage as But! Football Club are reporting the midfielder is showing himself rather ‘greedy’ for his next club, which isn’t playing to Milan’s strengths.

In fact, the website claim that Eddie Howe’s side are starting to take a ‘very close look’ at the Portugal international for next season.

After all, Newcastle are now in a slightly more comfortable Premier League spot than they were in January, allowing to aim for more prominent target following the success that has been Bruno Guimaraes.

They aren’t the only ones keen on the player either, with Liverpool, Arsenal, AS Roma and Juventus all providing competition to the Magpies and Milan for the midfielder.
