Bayer Leverkusen star Moussa Diaby is an ‘absolute dream’ player for Newcastle United as they line up signings for next season.

That’s according to BILD, who say the Magpies have not given up on the Frenchman after a ‘failed’ bid last summer.

Diaby has been in fine form for Leverkusen this season, with six goals and three assists in 15 games in the Bundesliga and another two goals in six games in the Champions League.

He officially ended 2022 as the German club’s best goal scorer, with 17 across the year, and their best provider of assists as well with a tally of nine.

Those numbers have only helped to ramp up interest in the 23-year-old and Newcastle are one of his main suitors.

They tried to sign him last summer but ‘failed’ to get a deal over the line and have retained an interest in the Frenchman since. He is now considered the ‘absolute dream’ player for them as they eye signings next summer ahead of the 2023-24 season.

Whether they can get him is up for debate as Leverkusen won’t want to sell and do have the forward tied to a deal until 2025 so there is no pressure on that front either.

With a huge transfer budget at their disposal and potential European football as well, the Magpies will have plenty at their disposal to get a deal done though and Diaby is a name to keep an eye on in the coming months.
