Bruno Guimarães was one of the new players to join Newcastle United in January and he arrived at St James’ Park from Lyon.
Back in February, Le10 Sport reported the Magpies also made a €40m offer to the Ligue 1 side for Lucas Paquetá. However, the deal did not take shape since he and his employer weren’t in favour of a move midway through the season.
It was also explained Guimarães’ exit from the Ligue 1 side left his compatriot a ‘little more isolated’ at the club, as the 24-year-old shared a close bond with Eddie Howe’s new star.
On Wednesday, reports coming out of England stated Newcastle are looking at the former AC Milan man.
Having struggled at the San Siro, the Rossoneri sold Paquetá to the French club in 2020.
He has excelled for Lyon, managing managed 19 goals and 12 assists in all competitions since the start of last season.
Lyon would ask for €70m to part ways with the player, and Newcastle reigniting their interest in the South American give Milan hope since they are entitled to receive a percentage of the fee from his future sale.
MilanLive.it also relay claims made in England and then give their take on this case. They state the Serie A side will receive 20% of the fee from Paquetá’s sale, which, they state ‘isn’t that bad’.
They end their report by stating: ‘Newcastle and their fans are hoping for Paquetà to arrive, but now it seems that the whole Milanista environment is also hoping for it’.
