Flamengo youngster Victor Hugo has ended up on Newcastle United’s radar, according to Bolavip Brasil. He has been a regular for his team after he ‘charmed’ his manager Jorge Sampaoli.
The 19-year-old has mainly operated as a central and defensive midfielder, while has also been used in other positions on a few occasions this year, where he managed four goals and an assist from 27 games.
It’s claimed the Magpies have been closely monitoring the versatile player and have ‘now decided to invest’ in securing his services. The offer from Eddie Howe’s should be around €24m.
A move to the Tyneside club will see the Brazilian meet his compatriot and Newcastle star, Bruno Guimarães. The report adds the former Lyon man has, ‘in a way’, influenced the Premier League side to invest to sign the teenager.
A year ago, Hugo signed a new deal until July 2027, and the belief is that the offer from the Magpies is expected to be around €24m, meaning the club, should it arrive, will then have to decide whether to let him go or not.
