When there’s two transfers announced to be on the way, if one is announced, the other one cannot be far behind.

Saint-Etienne, in a bid to bolster their squad ahead of a new tough season in Ligue 1, have plundered the Championship for some loan deals.

Newcastle’s Henri Saivet, despite being the second of the two to start negotiations, was the first to be announced on Wednesday on a loan without a view to buy.

Just over 30 minutes after Saint-Etienne tweeted the official announcement, Jordan Veretout, contracted to Aston Villa, followed suit.

L’Equipe on Wednesday reported in their morning newspaper that the club would be announcing both today, and they got it spot on. Screen Shot 2016-08-24 at 12.19.37

Both players passed their medical tests, and both will be straight loans.

After both players had disappointing seasons in the Premier League last seasons, especially Henri Saivet, who barely played, the duo are starting to kick start their career again, and Saint-Etienne is the place they’ve decided to do it.
