For the past week or so, there have been claims discussing the possibility of Idrissa Gueye returning to Everton in the summer window.

Two days ago, L’Equipe reported the Toffees have stopped discussions to sign the Paris Saint-Germain player.

This report surfaced the same day Everton manager Frank Lampard said this about the 32-year-old: “He’s a player for PSG. It’s as simple as that. You can draw your own conclusions.”

French journalist Abdellah Boulma then took to Twitter to state negotiations between the two clubs broke down because of the ‘low financial compensation’.

The midfielder has ‘sealed an agreement’ for a two-year deal, with an optional year, worth €3m per season.

Boulma again took to Twitter yesterday to provide a fresh update on the ex-Aston Villa man. According to the journalist, ‘new talks are envisaged’ between Everton and PSG for the Senegal international.

He further adds the ‘dialogue is not broken’ between the three parties. In the event, there is no agreement for Gueye to return to Goodison Park, then new avenues will be explored for the player.
