Everton have ‘stopped their discussions’ with Idrissa Gana Gueye over frustrations about a lack of movement in their transfer efforts.

That’s according to L’Equipe, who cover the situation around the midfielder and his potential return to Goodison Park this summer.

They explain that Gueye currently ‘moves away’ from Everton despite having reached a contract agreement with them.

As of today (Friday), the Toffees have ‘stopped their discussions’ with the player. That does not mean a return to Merseyside is completely dead, just that they are growing frustrated.

While they have sorted everything out with the player, the same cannot be said about the situation with Paris Saint-Germain, as there has been no agreement in place with the French giants at this point in time.

This difficulty has ‘strained’ those in charge at Everton, leading to them stopping all negotiations to bring Gueye back to Goodison Park.

L’Equipe argue this could be seen as a pressure tactic to convince PSG to resolve the difference, with them keen to move Gueye on as he is part of the group of undesirables that the club wish to sell.

Whether that works remains to be seen but for now it appears Gueye is no closer to returning to Everton.
