Making the most of his return to France with Celtic thanks to a Europa League tie with Rennes (which ended 1-1), the local media conducted a series of interviews with Christopher Julien.

After all, the centre-back is the latest in a growing line of French footballers to move to Parkhead to further their career, with many seeing it as the ideal stepping stone for the Premier League.

The player recently admitted that moving to England’s top-tier was his ‘dream, of course’, but made it clear Celtic was a club he really wanted to come to.

He reemphasised this in a chat with La Dépêche du Midi, where he explained he was ‘seduced’ by Neil Lennon’s speech, who made it very clear he wanted him to help Celtic retain their crown.

Taking some time to appear regularly in the starting line-up, the 26-year-old is now a shoe-in for the Scottish Premiership champions, who recently beat Steven Gerrard’s Rangers in the league away from home.

That 2-0 victory over Rangers was Jullien’s first derby, using the opportunity to give a few spare seats to some close friends to watch from the stands.

He said: “It was incredible… Incredible. I had never seen that before. The atmosphere was crazy. I invited a mate and my physio who often came to see my games, especially at Toulouse, and they told me they had tears in their eyes in the stadium.

“There’s an incredible intensity. As for me, on the pitch, my legs were shaking. When you’re in it, it really is something crazy.”

Since arriving at Celtic Park, the Frenchman has played 10 games and scored one goal.
