Brighton & Hove Albion still have a good chance to sign Jota Silva from Vitória Guimarães.
In the past few days, the winger has been linked with a move to Fenerbahce, with the Turkish media claiming there’s a desire to bring him to Istanbul.
However, as newspaper O Jogo now shares an update on this story, they claim such interest doesn’t even exist.
Fenerbahce will be having presidential elections this summer, and both their manager and sporting directors are at the end of their contracts, so there’s no certainty about how they’ll act in the transfer window.
Bringing some good news for Brighton, O Jogo then writes that Silva’s priority is actually to move to the Premier League or La Liga.
The player has a €20m release clause in his contract, so there’s not a lot Vitória Guimarães can do against his sale.
Last month, reports in Portugal said Brighton sent a scout to watch Silva and were considering making a move for him. Their offer is still to arrive, but it seems they remain well placed in the race for him.
