As we’ve said many times, the Colombian press loves Yerry Mina. They follow every single step the defender makes at Everton.

There was big expectation ahead of his debut for the Toffees, and much impatience, and then for his first start. Now that he’s made both, Marca’s Colombia edition has a piece listing the five reasons why he should hold a starting spot in the team.

The first reason is called ‘Overwhelming against Chelsea’, as Mina had his first start at Stamford Bridge, and did well against Maurizio Sarri’s side. Then Marca mentions that he ‘Needs to feel important’, since the player had a tough time at Barcelona and now needs to gain confidence once again.

The suggestion is that Everton would be making a wrong move by not managing the player’s confidence correctly, and it would be ‘illogical’ if he doesn’t start.

Then Marca lists Mina’s ‘personality’ against Chelsea, when he didn’t fear the likes of Eden Hazard, and also say he’s ‘won the dressing room’ over with his charisma, always transmitting ‘confidence and joy’.

For the final reason, Marca names Marco Silva as the man responsible for all of this. They say he’s the one who gave green light for Mina’s arrival, and now believes the player has the condition to keep playing.

To cut it short, Colombia expects. And if Mina doesn’t start Everton’s next match, and pretty much all of them going forward, there’s going to some annoyance.

They’re just getting their position out there.
