On Wednesday morning we covered the dreaded Tuttosport front page with Ruben Neves splashed all over it and a move to Juventus suggested.

This was always going to happen. When Joao Cancelo and Cristiano Ronaldo moved to the Serie A champions in the summer, it led to suggestions Neves would be lined up as the next Jorge Mendes to Juventus deal.

In August it was reported in Italy that the Mendes connection ‘leads straight to Wolverhampton’ and two players were named: Neves and Diogo Jota.

Given it’s the midfielder who has been shining brighter, he’s the one attracting stories.

Aside from their main article on the potential transfer, which stated Mendes met Juve’s director of sport in Milan on Wednesday and wants a ‘leap in quality’ for Neves, Tuttosport had another, separate, article on the situation.

In that they state the Wolves player moving to Turin ‘could become the most imminent business (for Mendes), already in January, but not the only one’.

That’s worrying, true, but there are so many transfer claims from Tuttosport, and so many relating to Mendes that it has to be taken lightly. And the idea of Wolves selling in January just doesn’t ring true.

For example, it’s said David de Gea could leave Manchester United for free in the summer. He can’t, the club have an option to extend his contract by a further year.
