AS Roma fell to a disappointing 3-2 loss away to Verona on Sunday, halting Jose Mourinho’s good start to the Serie A season.

The club are in third place and will feel they have a good chance of a title challenge this season, especially given Juventus are struggling all the way down in the relegation zone, with just two points after four matches.

Winning Serie A would be a huge boost for Mourinho’s career, after his recent troubles at Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United. He was shown the door at both Spurs and the Red Devils, leaving Tottenham in April 2021, and securing the Roma job quickly after.

Mourinho is apparently still building his backroom team at the Italian side, and former Egypt international Abdel Sattar Sabry could be part of that.

Quoted by Gazzetta dello Sport at the weekend, the 47-year-old said: “Mourinho already wanted me at Tottenham. I await an answer in a few days.”

Abdel Sattar Sabry was an attacking midfielder, who had the best spell of his career at Benfica, what role he was wanted for at Tottenham is unclear, and the same goes for Roma.
