Arsenal have not yet managed to convince Shakhtar Donetsk to sanction Mykhailo Mudryk’s sale in the winter market.

The Gunners are keen to add the winger to their squad and have already made multiple proposals to secure his services. These offers have not met the fee demanded by the Ukrainian champions.

Earlier this week, TuttoMercatoWeb reported Arsenal had made an improved bid of €40m fixed fee plus €20m in bonuses. However, this wasn’t enough for Shakhtar.

Shakhtar assistant sporting director, Carlo Nicolini, has confirmed Arsenal’s interest in the 22-year-old and also insisted his side value their star at €100m.

With Mikel Arteta’s side insisting on securing the player’s services, Footboom had a chat with Ukrainian agent Igor Kryvenko to get his views on the possibility of Mudryk ending up at a top European club in January.

“Minimal. Shakhtar won’t let Mudryk go for the money they are currently offering. €100m is an inadequate price,” Kryvenko said.

“A player from the Ukrainian championship cannot cost more than, for example, a player from the Netherlands. You have to look at things realistically. There is a market value, and Shakhtar seem to be taking figures from the ceiling.

“The guy is in the ‘golden cage’. I know for sure that in the summer, Brentford offered good money for Mudryk, but the Donetsk team refused. It seems as if they want to reflect on their talent everything that they lost in the past failed transfers.”

It’s to be noted Kryvenko doesn’t represent Mudryk and the Ukraine international is managed by Oleksiy Alyokhin. The latter has responded to the recent reports around his client’s future.

“Mudryk is a Shakhtar player and the decision on his transfer will be made by the management of the Donetsk club. Mykhailo is preparing to go to the camp with Shakhtar. Trust only official information,” Alyokhin told Sport Arena.

Recent claims in the UK have stated Chelsea have joined Arsenal in the chase for Mudryk but he continues to retain the desire to join Arteta’s side.
