Manchester City midfielder Alexander Zinchenko has revealed it was a dream move signing for the Premier League clubs.

The Ukraine international signed for Manchester City from UFA in 2016.

Speaking to Championat, Zinchenko was asked about being offered a move to Manchester City: “It’s what I dreamed of when I was a kid – I always wanted to play in Europe. I made up my mind that I should not give up. In life you need to fight for everything – it does not matter whether it’s football, life or love. And if you do not, you will not succeed.”

The 21 year old joined Manchester City as a big talent of Ukrainian football, shortly after he was selected for Euro 2016. He was already on the radar of big clubs, but Manchester City were the most determined to get his signature.

Last season he was loaned out to Dutch club PSV to get first team experience before returning to Manchester City last summer.

With the injury problems Pep Guardiola had at left back this season Zinchenko managed to benefit from this, starting five Premier League games in that position.

Next season the Ukrainian will be hoping to get opportunities in his natural position, but has plenty of competition ahead of him.
