Bought from Sarpsborg 08 back in 2020 for €2m, Ismaila Coulibaly has never managed to really settle at Sheffield United.

His two year loan at Beerschot did get him a lot of minutes to let him develop, as he made 44 appearances over two seasons, scoring five goals and assisting another two, but that hasn’t been repeated with the Blades, for whom he has played just seven times.

That’s why a move away makes the most sense for the player and Sheffield United, with Fotboll Direkt explaining that AIK in Sweden are keen to sign the midfielder.

It’s said that Coulibaly is himself ‘pushing to leave’ Bramall Lane, since he isn’t playing there, and there is a ‘meeting planned this week’ between the 22-year-old and the Swedish side regarding a transfer.

This should therefore be a relatively straightforward deal to put together, since everyone is in agreement, as AIK is also considered a ‘good step’ by the Sheffield United player and his representatives.

Now, there will need to be some discussions with the Blades, since he is still under contract there until the end of the season, but we doubt any transfer fee will be overly expensive with just six months left.
