There was a lot going on in Bruno Fernandes’ mind before taking that private jet which took him to Manchester last night.

The midfielder spent the morning and the early afternoon sorting out his departure from Sporting, and it was a really emotional time for him.

Newspaper O Jogo reports that before signing for Manchester United, Bruno Fernandes went to the Alcochete training centre to have a word with his former teammates.

It’s said the player couldn’t hold his tears back, and promised the other players he wouldn’t stop following the Lisbon club, having encouraged the squad and wishing them good luck for the rest of the season.

The midfielder has also recorded an interview directed to Sporting fans, and he did cry a lot during the chat. Sporting TV had to make several cuts in the story, and even asked him if he wanted to stop talking, but he made sure to be sincere to all the club’s fanbase.

“Words are few for what I spent here. They were very important moments, which marked my career. And it isn’t easy. Obviously it will be marked forever. Supporters, the people who worked with me, players, everything. I went through many things good and a lot of negative things, obviously what I’m going to keep is just the positive things. I want people to remember me for the positive and I’ll always remember Sporting for the positive too.

“Both for me and my family, we were always well received , we had a great affection on the part of everyone and we never lacked anything. I’m not a Lion since birth, but I will be from now on. As much as I could say, it was of little use to thank you for everything you did for me. A very big thanks to Sportinguistas. I hope you have good memories of me and I always carry you in my heart.”
