If they weren’t already, Cristiano Ronaldo’s days at Manchester United appear to be numbered.

Erik ten Hag has left him out of the squad to face Chelsea at the weekend, a crucial match which could see the Red Devils leapfrog the London club. Of course, it all comes after Ronaldo left the ground early during his club’s impressive victory over Tottenham Hotspur this week.

The Portugal international has now become a distraction even when things are going well for Ten Hag.

Jorge Mendes will again be tasked with finding a new club for his star client, and Spain’s Deportes Cuatro present ‘the master move’ the agent could build.

Another of his star clients, Joao Felix, is thought to be unhappy at Atletico Madrid, and is looking for a new club as early as the January window. Cuatro say Felix, who has been repeatedly linked with Manchester United in recent weeks, could be Ronaldo’s replacement for Ten Hag, and a luxury one at that.

There’s been talk in Spain recently about the possibility of a loan deal in January with a purchase obligation next summer. Such a scenario looks attractive for the Premier League club.

That move would still leave Mendes with the task of trying to find a new home for Ronaldo, because Diego Simeone insisted last week he hadn’t really considered signing the forward due to his past at Real Madrid.
