Even though Julian Alvarez is already sold to Manchester City, people at River Plate are still enjoying his time at the club, while he continues having a great season for them.
The compliments don’t stop being made, and now, it’s their former striker Javier Saviola who has a few comments to make about the 22-year-old.
In an interview along with another former River Plate striker, Norberto Alonso, the ex-Barcelona and Real Madrid player only had positive things to say about the youngster, also bringing some advice about his move to Europe.
“I would tell him that this is very big, still, he’s just beginning,” said Javier Saviola (via TyC Sports).
“The worst thing that can happen to us is rushing it. He has to enjoy himself, to continue doing the games he is doing. We know that he has a huge future ahead of him.”
“We have many things in common. Something I can say that at the moment, is I’m a little higher (laughs). The economic thing is important personally and for the club. I left when I was 19 and he is close by. What we like is football and he looks happy playing it. Then the issue of figures and values is anecdotal. He’s going to be at a club that is going to protect him and where football is played very well.”
Last week, an update from the Argentine media claimed that Manchester City are spending a total of €21.4m on the signing of Julian Alvarez. That payment has been divided in several instalments until next year.
Even though there’d been some doubts regarding the date when the striker would move to the Premier League side, manager Pep Guardiola already confirmed that he’s joining the squad in the next summer window.
