La Nazione is a regional Tuscany newspaper, and therefore the football club they concentrate on the most is Fiorentina.

Tuesday’s edition of the newspaper has an article on Lucas Torreira, which reads like something of a love letter to the Arsenal owned midfielder.

After a difficult period in his professional and personal life, the footballer is smiling again and has found a real home with La Viola. The Serie A club’s fans love him, and made that clear at the weekend, during a 1-0 win over Bologna.

Torreira’s name was sung by the crowd, and they made it known they want to keep their midfield hero when his loan from Arsenal ends. La Nazione call him a ‘giant’ despite his relatively short height, and explain he’s been everything Fiorentina wanted, and he’s seemingly found everything he was looking for.

There’s been repeat claims that Fiorentina will try and negotiate their €15m purchase clause down. La Nazione don’t seem to be of that mind, saying the plan is to buy him ‘as soon as possible’, and to do so by putting the €15m on the table for Arsenal.

There’s a suggestion the Italians will even want to seal a deal before they need to, just in case other clubs come in and try to tempt the player away.

Right now, he’s ‘made his choice’, and there’s a hope it’ll stay that way.
