With Manchester United seemingly struggling to get a deal for Frenkie de Jong over the line, it appears the big guns have been sent to try and get an agreement.

That’s according to journalist Gerard Romero, who took to his Twitch and Twitter to reveal that both John Murtough and Richard Arnold are currently in Barcelona, having met with some of the La Liga club’s chiefs: Jordi Cruyff, Rafa Yuste and Mateu Alemany.

With video to prove it, he shows the chiefs leaving Restaurante Tritón.

While there are no real details just yet, a push for Frenkie de Jong would make the most sense, with Manchester United clearly trying to give Erik ten Hag the player he wants.

It’s no secret the Dutch manager would love to reunited with his former Ajax Amsterdam pupil, and with a clear project now in place at Old Trafford, the idea would be for it to be built around the midfielder.

There have been a few articles of late suggesting that De Jong would rather stay at Barcelona than move to Manchester United, but it’s clear the club are doing everything they can to gift the player to their new manager.

Whether they manage it remains to be seen, but with both Murtough and Arnold in Barcelona on Monday, it’s clear something is in the works.

We’ll keep you up to date if anything more comes in.

UPDATE: Not only were they there today (Monday), Romero then reports both Murtough and Arnold were also in Barcelona last Thursday.
