Over the past few days, we’ve seen more and more articles suggesting that Lautaro Martinez, currently struggling for form at Inter, could leave San Siro in the summer.
Without a goal in his last seven Serie A games, the 24-year-old has been linked with a move to Tottenham and Liverpool, while other Premier League clubs, like Manchester United, are now being added to the list.
This comes courtesy of Il Giorno, relayed by FC Inter 1908, who report that Martinez’s ‘bad moment’ is forcing some to look ‘further ahead’ to the player’s future.
After all, it could simply mean a bigger fee for Inter, and Manchester United, who are set to lose Edinson Cavani in the summer, will be needing a new striker.
The Uruguayan’s exit and the hopeful sale of Anthony Martial would leave a gap that needs filling, which is why it makes sense for someone like Martinez to be targeted.
It’s said the player has ‘no shortage of fans’, with both Manchester United and Arsenal said to have ‘taken the first steps’ towards signing the player.
From the player’s end, however, these options are said to be ‘on standby’ at the moment, mostly because the forward still believes in the Inter project, but should that change between now and the end of the season, then perhaps an exit could become a scenario worth considering for all involved.
