Manchester United fullback Diogo Dalot gave this week an interview to Portuguese outlet Eleven Sports.

There, the 24-year-old spoke about two compatriots who worked with him at Old Trafford. Those are José Mourinho and Bruno Fernandes.

The Portuguese boss was in charge when Manchester United spent €22m to sign Dalot from Porto. It was him who gave the player his first minutes with the Red Devils, and the fullback shows big gratitude for that (via A Bola).

“From the moment I had the conversation I had with ‘mister’ Mourinho, I think that, from then on, it was decisive,” Diogo Dalot told Eleven Sports.

“The way he planned my coming here, what I might be able to do and what he believed I could do… The way this conversation took place was decisive.”

Dalot also had a word about Bruno Fernandes, claiming it’s a ‘pleasure’ to have the midfielder as his teammate.

“I think he has this ability to be fun when he has to be fun, demanding when he has to be, intense when he has to be… I think it is a pleasure to be able to work with players like that and to have shared several years with him also brings that good experience, and it has been very positive to work with him.”

Despite being in a constant fight against Aaron Wan-Bissaka for the right-back position, Dalot is managing to have a quite regular season for Manchester United, with 35 appearances made so far.

The Portuguese player was even used on the left-back in their last match against Nottingham Forest, due to the injuries of Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia, and ended up scoring a goal in the Red Devils’ 2-0 win. That was also Dalot’s 100th game for the club.
