It would appear Edinson Cavani’s injury problems don’t only relate to Manchester United, but can cause issues for Uruguay too.

That was the case on Tuesday evening, as the South American country faced Chile in a World Cup qualifier. The striker had to leave the pitch after just 25 minutes and was seen to be clearly in discomfort following the issue.

Tenfield report the Manchester United player felt something in his right calf and immediately went down and sat on the grass. According to the same source Cavani suffered a ‘muscular ailment in the right calf’.

That would likely mean he’ll be missing at least one match for his Premier League club, during a season in which he’s missed a lot of football. The 35-year-old has played just over 600 minutes in the league this campaign, and less than 150 minutes combined over the Champions League and FA Cup.

He’s scored two goals during that time, and his contract at Old Trafford expires at the end of June.
