Paul Pogba’s potential move to Real Madrid is the kind of transfer that will cause shockwaves throughout this transfer window.

Not only will it leave several Madrid players looking to move and thus put them on the market, but it will also send Manchester United into the transfer window to find a replacement. Not only that, they’ll have money to burn to find him.

AS have thrown a name into the mix.

They back up their claims from earlier this week that United have identified Atletico Madrid midfielder Saul Niguez as the ideal Pogba replacement. In fact, they have already made ‘first contacts’ with his representatives.

Saul would not be an easy signing to make, though. Atletico do not want to sell their star midfielder and thus won’t negotiate a deal.

Instead, they’ll demand that any club pay Saul’s release clause, which currently stands at €150m, the second highest at Atletico Madrid.

Whether United would be willing to pay that price is not mentioned, nor whether they have even attempted to make contact with the La Liga club over a deal.

But if Pogba does move, they’d undoubtedly have the money to spend on Saul’s release clause. Until that move is finalised, though, this is one that isn’t going to get going.
