Barcelona completed the signing of Ferran Torres and are in the market for a new striker after summer signing Sergio Agüero was forced to retire due to a heart condition.

Atlético Madrid’s Álvaro Morata, who is currently on loan at Juventus, is the main target, but the Serie A side are making it difficult to let the Spaniard leave. Sport state the situation has seen the Catalan club shift focus on Manchester United’s Anthony Martial.

The France international has struggled at Old Trafford this season and his agent publicly stated the 26-year-old wants to leave the Red Devils in the winter market.

Although the La Liga side’s priority has been to sign Morata and Edinson Cavani, they still have the former AS Monaco man on their agenda. Juve are refusing to let Morata leave, while Ralf Rangnick is determined to retain the former Napoli star in Manchester.

It’s said Martial ‘wants’ to go to the Camp Nou and his camp have offered him to Barca. They have ‘frozen’ all other offers they have received so far and are waiting for a response from the Blaugrana.

Martial has already said no to Juventus, while Sevilla sporting director, Monchi, is ‘crazy’ to sign him.

However, the player believes Barcelona’s game would suit him better than Sevilla.

A potential deal for the Frenchman will be on loan with an option to buy. Sport say Barcelona could test to sign him with a purchase option of around €40m.

That could be enough to tempt Manchester United, but we’ll have to wait and see for the time being.
