Manchester United have a number of players with contracts expiring at the end of the current season, and it presents an opportunity to get some wages off the accounts.
One of the players in that situation is Christian Eriksen, and it would appear the Premier League club haven’t made any effort with regards to a renewal.
The 32-year-old has been speaking to Bold/Ekstra Bladet in Denmark and they report: ‘As he has stated to Bold, the parties are not talking about extending the collaboration further.’
That presents a whole world of decisions for Eriksen to make in the coming months, and the choice of his next club will be influenced by his continued ambitions with Denmark’s national team.
The level of his next club, and how often he plays for them, will have an impact on Eriksen’s national team chances, which he explained isn’t something he’s had to think about too much in the past: “I have never given it a thought because I have played in Tottenham and Inter.
“When I came to Brentford, of course I had to prove that I could play football again, but I had shown my name, and then I came to United after.”
Christian Eriksen has been repeatedly used by Erik ten Hag so far this season, with eight appearances for Manchester United in the current campaign.
