Aston Villa striker Jhon Duran and Liverpool’s Luis Diaz have found themselves caught up in some classic international drama ahead of this international break.
That’s at least according to Gol Caracol, who detail the matter today and comments from Colombia manager Néstor Lorenzo after Bolivia were caught spying on their upcoming opponents.
The Liverpool and Aston Villa stars are part of Lorenzo’s squad for this break I which Colombia take on Bolivia and Chile in World Cup qualifying.
As Premier League stars, it’s likely the home side, Bolivia, will have the lowdown on both the Liverpool and Aston Villa players before the clash.
It seems they wanted more information before the game, though, and sent a spy to watch Colombia in training ahead of the clash.
This spy was spotted by Colombia, who have been left furious by the whole affair and made their anger public in more ways than one.
Lorenzo was therefore asked about the matter in his press conference ahead of the game and didn’t hold back in his criticism of the whole affair.
“It is unfortunate that they send you to spy and that I don’t know where he came from or who he was, but we identified him, we have photos and we report the case there,” he is quoted as saying.
“Of course, one wants to train with the discretion that one deserves, and what happened was a breach of the privacy of the team. We have photographed the person of everything, we will see how we proceed in these hours.
“The circumstances you mentioned are isolated, we are very happy in Cochabamba, they have received us very well, grateful to the Colombian people for the welcome and affection, there are people who want to win at any cost, or who do things that are inappropriate.”
