Real Sociedad are confident that star man Mikel Oyarzabal will be fit for next week’s clash with Manchester United in the Europa League.

The Spanish side were facing the prospect of taking on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side in the first leg of their Europa League last 32 clash in Turin after he limped out of training yesterday.

Reports stated that the La Liga side were fearful the forward had suffered a reoccurrence of an injury he picked up in December, which saw him miss six games and his side struggle without him.

It was later confirmed that he had tendinopathy in his right hamstring, an injury that looked likely to see him miss the weekend clash with Getafe and made it ‘complicated’ for him to face Manchester United.

However, Mundo Deportivo now report that the player took part in training today and it is now ‘almost guaranteed’ that he will be fit to help his side take on Manchester United next week.

They also have positive comments from La Real boss Imanol Aguacil, who is also confident his key man will be fit and firing.

“We have good news about Mikel,” he said.

“The evolution is good, and he is going to try tomorrow’s training, he can even be called up for the game.”

“Today has been phenomenal, with very good sensations. Depending on the training, we will decide.

“He has been diagnosed with tendinitis; even if it forces, there is no greater probability that there is a tear.”
