As predicted earlier on on Monday, Manchester United are still working to try and sign Marko Arnautovic from Bologna.

Their first offer (somewhere between €5m and €9m depending on the source) was rejected, but it was claimed that an improved bid would be made in the near future.

Well, that appears to be on its way, as Alessio Lento for Calciomercato.it took to Twitter to explain that alongside the work put in to sign Adrien Rabiot from Juventus, Manchester United ‘are concretely working’ to bring in Arnautovic.

In fact, ‘an offer of €10m + bonuses is ready’, and it’s said the work is being put in so that this all resolved one way or another ‘before the start of the championship’, meaning Serie A.

By that, Lento means that Bologna want to know whether they will have their star striker or not by Sunday, when they open their new campaign away to Lazio.

This suggests that once that game comes around, they will no longer be interested in negotiating, clearly trying to avoid any late changes to their squad in the final weeks of the transfer window.

That’s less of an issue for Manchester United, who are desperately seeking to add more bodies for Erik ten Hag to work with following their 2-1 loss at Old Trafford to Brighton & Hove Albion.
