It’s not every day that you reach the big 100, and that’s why Toluca in Mexico are trying to get the best opponents possibly to celebrate their upcoming milestone birthday on the 12th of February 2017.

Speaking to ESPN in Mexico, the club’s director of football, Jaime León, has expressed his wish to try and bring José Mourinho’s Manchester United all the way to Central America for a game to mark the occasion.

Asked if he United were an option, he said: “Yes, but it is not yet confirmed. I still do not want to give any news in order to avoid speculation. I have a meeting tomorrow, where we will discuss this.”

One of León’s desires would be to see Zlatan Ibrahimovic grace the pitch at the Estadio Nemesio Diez, as well as the other ‘many important people too’.

Manchester United aren’t the only option being evaluated by the Mexican side, but the aim would be to get a club that would meet ‘his expectations, as well as those of the fans’.

Looking in the world’s ‘top ten’ clubs, León refused to divulge the names of the other teams, but was willing to admit that United were one of them.

Discussions are also said to be already under way.

This wouldn’t be the first time Manchester United played in Mexico, having already done so in 2010 when Sir Alex Ferguson’s side played Chivas in an exhibition match to inaugurate their new stadium.
