Earlier this month, we covered an article stating that Liverpool, through one of their scouts, were keeping an eye on Jhon Duran.
The name might not mean much to most fans, as he is currently breaking through in the MLS, but the Colombian has caught the attention of many clubs including Manchester United.
This comes courtesy of Jeunes Footeux in France, who point out Marseille are also in the mix for the 18-year-old, who boasts eight goals and six assists in 30 appearances for Chicago Fire.
It’s made clear the player has a price of €11m, set by the MLS club’s board, and ‘numerous Premier League clubs’ are said to be ‘attentively following his performances’, before the likes of Liverpool, Manchester United and Chelsea are named.
Atlético Madrid and Marseille are other teams looking at him, and it will be interesting to see if anyone decides to take a leap of faith in the next transfer window.
It’s no secret that Manchester United need a new striker, although you would expect to go after someone a bit more experienced, at least when it comes to this season.
Someone like Duran could easily be a youngster for the future, which is something Liverpool are allegedly thinking about, with journalist Pipe Sierra pointing out the man who followed Luis Diaz in his early days for the Reds had already gone to look at Duran.
It was said back then that a fee of €10m would be enough to get the youngster, with that fee now seemingly having increased by a whole €1m, which we all know is something both the Anfield side and Manchester United can easily afford if they want to.
