During Fabio Paratici’s first summer in charge of Tottenham, Harry Kane was a target for Manchester City, and his Spurs future was unknown.

With that in mind, the London side went around trying to find a replacement for the England international should he leave, and Lautaro Martinez was among the players top of the list; a player now being linked to Newcastle United.

Tottenham even went as far as making a huge offer for the Argentine, but Inter, who had just lost Romelu Lukaku to Chelsea that summer, decided against accepting and kept their player

In the meantime, Kane never went to the north of England and stayed put, much to the delight of Spurs and their fanbase.

He continues to be a star man under Antonio Conte, but that hasn’t stopped the Italian media to link Martinez back with Tottenham.

Not only that, but Inter Live explain that Newcastle could also be a landing spot, alongside Manchester United.

The starting point of any negotiation for the Argentine ‘can in fact be €90m’, which is a ‘figure completely within the reach of the very rich Premier League’.

That’s when Tottenham, Newcastle and the Red Devils are said as the ‘three potential attackers’, while Chelsea are thrown into the mix because of Romelu Lukaku.

Either way, it seems unlikely that the Magpies would go all out for Martinez, having recently signed Alexander Isak from Real Sociedad for a hefty fee.

As for Tottenham, you would only expect them to make a move if Kane were to leave, which seems to entirely depend on the player at this point.
