Currently sitting near the top of the Premier League table, Manchester City aren’t surprising everyone with their form, especially after adding Erling Haaland to their team in the summer.
They might have lost players like Raheem Sterling along the way, but with Pep Guardiola at the helm, they have reinvented themselves nicely with a proper number nine able to score poacher’s goals.
On the other hand, Liverpool, who pushed Manchester City to the very end of the season in the last campaign, have struggled to get going this time around.
Jürgen Klopp’s side currently sit 8th in the table, having won just two of their first six games, losing one (against Manchester United) and drawing the other three.
One man, however, isn’t overly surprised by what is happening over at Anfield, and that’s Manchester City stalwart Rodri.
Speaking to Gazzetta dello Sport, the defensive midfielder was asked if he was taken aback by Liverpool this season.
He replied: “Only partially. The Premier League level is so high that as soon as you slow down, you lose points. Liverpool are not in crisis, they are just less effective, and the Premier League does not allow you to relax.”
