The City Football Group signed Uriel Antuna from Mexican side Santos Laguna in 2017 and registered him to Manchester City.

The Premier League winners allowed the winger to join FC Groningen on a two-year loan deal before he moved to LA Galaxy on a temporary transfer earlier this year.

His current deal at the Etihad runs down in two years’ time and according to Fox Sports Mexico, the player has signed an extension and his new deal will keep him with the English champions until 2022.

The report further adds the confirmation of the player’s contract extension should be made official in the coming days.

Antuna has enjoyed a good year so far as he made his debut for the national team and was also part of the Mexico squad at the 2019 CONCACAF Gold Cup.

He netted a hattrick and an assist against Cuba and has taken his overall tally to five goals and three assists in nine appearances for his country. Antuna stressed the new City contract has been a reward for fine performances.

“The new contract is the result of things that I have been doing well, thanks to the effort and sacrifice. Being on the field gives you a lot of experience, a lot of confidence to play, to touch, to throw and do all those kind of things,” he told Fox Sports, as quoted by Marca.

“My dream is to be at City and fight for a place there. There are world-class players, but nothing is impossible. I will fight and try to be in the best teams in the world.”
