Manchester City are one of the clubs in the mix to sign São Paulo defender Lucas Beraldo, according to reports from Brazil.

Journalist Alexsander Vieira has reported there are several clubs fighting for the youngster.

Barcelona stand out, as they’re the closest to making a bid for Beraldo. But Manchester City, Juventus, Bayern Munich, Real Madrid and Paris Saint Germain also made approaches as well.

São Paulo are said to be fine with the situation, because they’re either selling the player for a big amount, or they’re keeping him for the Copa Libertadores campaign next year.

It’s said the club’s intention is to sell Beraldo for at least €20m, and make him the most expensive defender to ever leave Brazil.

The report points out that besides Manchester City, there are ‘minor clubs’ in England who are also interested in the player.

That pretty much sounds like they wouldn’t be able to compete with Pep Guardiola’s side, nor with the European giants who are also chasing him.
