The Argentine media now insists in Manchester City’s agreement to sign Claudio Echeverri from River Plate.

Journalist Cesar Luis Merlo was the first one bringing the news, claiming Pep Guardiola’s side will trigger the player’s €25m release clause.

It’s said Echeverri is set to stay at River Plate for one more year, and Manchester City already started exchanging documents to make the deal official.

Another journalist reporting it is German Garcia Grova, who confirms that the transfer will cost over €25m, including bonuses.

He claims that Echeverri will sign a six-year deal with Manchester City, although he’s staying at River Plate ‘at least’ until December 2024.

The youngster is turning 18 in January and could be eligible to move to England next month, so his extra year in Argentina was something negotiated between the clubs.

Echeverri only made six appearances for River Plate’s first team, and that was more than enough to convince Manchester City to invest in his signing. He’s nicknamed as the ‘Diablito’, which means the ‘little devil’, although that may not go down very well at Manchester City.
