Manager ‘very wise’ to not take Leeds job – Will have a ‘choice of clubs’ when season ends

Feyenoord manager Arne Slot was ‘very wise’ not to take the Leeds United job as he will have a ‘choice of clubs’ come the end of the season.

That’s according to analyst Aad de Mos, who believes Slot was smart to see out the season in the Netherlands and then assess his options.

The Feyenoord coach has a rising reputation in the game thanks to his impressive work with the Dutch side this season, having led them to first in the Eredivisie table despite their modest budget compared to other sides in the division.

It was that work that led Leeds to make an approach for his signature as they look to find a permanent replacement for Jesse Marsch.

The Whites held contact with Feyenoord about their manager but the Dutch side held firm and so did Slot, who later confirmed he preferred to stay where he was to see out the season and potentially with the title with Feyenoord.

That was the right decision, according to De Mos, who believes Slot will have more than one option one the table come the summer.

“You can do that once, as he did with AZ, by giving his signature to Feyenoord in the middle of the season. He wasn’t thanked for that,” Feyenoord Pings report him saying when asked if it was ‘very wise’ to turn down Leeds.

“He doesn’t have to do that, I think he will soon have a choice of clubs. He is busy on three fronts, he can still be national champion, he can win the KNVB Cup, he can win the Europa League, so very wise that he does not do that.”
